Zipnby to say Hi

Image
Today I am showing you a fun card I made using the August kit Zipnby to say Hi, stamp set from Avocado Arts .  I am also playing along & providing a sample over at SCS with the Dare to Get Dirty challenge #1 (head on over and join the fun!!). The other Avocado Arts designers are showing off this set as well, so make sure to visit their blogs and say hello! AJ OTTO BECKY OEHLERS JULIA STAINTON KIMBERLY CRAWFORD Avocado ARts Blog On this card, I used a few different techniques, so I thought I would share my design process.  A few of these inks/paints, I have never used before, so I was a little scared, but I really like my results.  It is fun to step out of your "box" every once in a while.  Plus I found a few products I really want to use again, and need more colors of! I started by gathering some supplies: Avocado Arts stamps, bubble wrap, textured paper, Jenni Bowlin acrylic paint, strong glue, Spellbinders Die Template, Pigment ink, Cosmic Shimmer products, fo

Personalized Notebooks

It is hard to believe summer is almost over, and my children start school in 2 weeks.  How on earth will I have a 5th & 10th grader?  I just can't wrap my head around that one.  My daughter has an especially hard course load this year (so does my son), so we sat down, and I let her go through my pattern paper stash, to re-cover/alter a composition notebook.  We made one for one of her really good friends as well. Kendall, finally settled on some beautiful Crate paper, and picked out some girly Teresa Collins paper for her friend.  It just made sense to use some Lawn Fawn stamps to personalize the notebooks for the girls.  The larger alphabet set is Quinn's ABC's and the smaller alpha set is the Harold's ABC's set.  I also used the S choolhouse backdrops set too.  I love that the Harold's set fit so perfect within the lines!!  I colored in the girls names using Copic markers to make the names pop a little more, then accented the letters with a white gel pe

A few Lawn Fawn cards

Image
Now that Jess is home, and we are back from vacation, I have had extra time to sit down and play.  If any of you own Lawn Fawn stamps, you know how happy these stamps are!  That is probably why I love to design for this company, it exudes happiness down to the core. I noticed my stash of cards getting low, so I am trying to fill my basket of go to cards, so I have that special card just when I need it.   Normally when I create, if I have certain colors out, all of the cards I make will have a similar theme or color scheme going on.  I am really drawn to yellows, reds, pinks, corals, & turquoise colors.  Maybe it is because I live in Florida?  Who knows, but bright cheery colors make me happy, so that is what I am going with.   Card #1 materials used: On the Mend Say Cheese Partly Cloudy Canvas Corps kraft card stock White card stock green Bo Bunny card stock turquoise card stock Orange Tim Holtz ink grosgrain ribbon memento ink Card #2 materials used: Hello Friend Fanciful Frame

Homecoming...some pictures.

Image
Sorry for the little blog break.  My husband came back from a January-July deployment, and we took off to Disney World for a week with the kids.  Bethany Walter, who owns Mady Joe Photography , was there to capture all of the emotion and smiles for Jess' return.  Thank you again for all of your support, it means so much. Here are some of my favorite pictures from our homecoming.  I literally could not chose which ones to post... Right now I am just so happy to have my family together :) The kids waiting in the hangar Jacob and his sign Kendall and her sign helos flying over us there they are!! I'm starting to realize he is home. Today, the Avocado Arts pit crew is sneaking a little peak of the August stamp set.  I have to tell you, when I was sent the first three months of stamps, I was so excited for this set!  There are so many elements that are just so cool!  Make sure to visit the AA blog , as well as the rest of the designers to check out their sneak peeks.   AJ OTTO BECKY OEHLERS JULIA STAINTON KIMBERLY CRAWFORD For my card, I started out with a red card base.  Then on the textured card stock, I stamped the road, car and hearts from the August set, then the sentiment is from the July set.  To see the last few months sets check them out here . materials used: red card stock white textured card stock Avocado Arts stamps memento ink corner rounder twinery bakers twine palette ink foam tape

Lawn Fawn: Critters...Farm style :)

Image
Today the Lawn Fawn designers are showcasing a new "critters" set, this one is called Critters at the Farm.  Such a perfect addition to this series of stamps.  I made a fun scene using stamps from Critters at the Farm & in the burbs...love how they can be used together.  All of the images were colored in using Copic markers. Make sure you head on over to the Lawn Fawn blog , Kelly is giving away a few stamp sets.  Also, be sure to visit the rest of the designers. Lawn Fawn: Quinn's ABC's & some talky talk

Image
Oh, how I have waited months to show this stamp set on my blog!  I was completely in love with this stamp set from the moment I saw it.  It is a larger scale alphabet set, that is perfect to color in, paper piece or just stamp alone. In a little over a day, my husband will be coming home from his deployment.  Most of you know, he is a helicopter pilot in the US Navy, and this deployment was really rough.  It has been a little over 6 months since me or my children have seen him, so the anxiety level in my house, is through the roof right now.   I plan on writing him a little note inside this card, and placing on his side of the bed.  I will probably apologize too for being a bed hog until I get used to him being there again lol.   With each hour of this deployment coming to a close, I feel a release of sorts.  For the last 6 months, I have had to be the Mom, Dad, friend, disciplinarian, coach, teacher, taxi driver, money hander-overer, tear wiper, among other things.  I have had to be s

Lawn Fawn: Clear to See

Image
It is inspirational week over at Lawn Fawn the next few days, so head on over to the blog for your chance to win some stamps, plus Kelly always has awesome videos!  Today the designers are showcasing the stamp set called, Clear to See.  It is this super fun set of glasses and punny sentiments. Don't forget to visit the rest of the design team, and their projects! Chan Vuong Julie Campbell Lea Lawson Lynnette Kauffman Nichol Magouirk Teri Anderson Tiffany Johnson For my card, I used some textured card stock taped together, then stamped one of the glasses over the card stock in Versamark ink, I did this to create a funky background.  The textured paper makes it look really neat (i think).  I then cut/embossed a Spellbinders Labels One die, and then stamped glasses onto the die cut.  Before adhering the die cut down, I placed it where I would want it, then stamped my sentiments.  I did it that way, because I planned on adhering the die cut down with foam tape.  It is just makes thin

Avocado Arts: July Socks :)

Image
The Avocado Arts Design Team is showcasing the July set, Hello Friend again today. So, the sentiment I used on this card...it is so cute, I could just cry over it.  I am so blessed with all of the amazing woman who have been brought into my life.  The older I get, the more I so appreciate these relationships.  Sorry for getting sappy, it has just been one of those weeks.  Little sleep, lots of work to get done, and murphy's law making everything that could go wrong, go wrong.  TGIF right? Woot to that! Make sure to visit the rest of the design team to check out their projects, as well as the Avocado Arts site to pick up some stampy goodness.
