Night at Petco Park

Image
We went to go see the Padres, & we all had a great time.  Since its Labor Day weekend and all, traffic was going to be terrible.  Petco Park is only a few miles from our house, but dealing with tourists, parking, traffic & drunk people we took the train.  It was cheaper than parking & I got to people watch. The Padres won, its so nice when the home team wins.  Although the Padres are not my favorite baseball team, I had fun cheering them on.  We had soda's, hot dogs, licorice, kettle corn & cotton candy.  Those walking vendors get me everytime, especially when they have the cotton candy, I only let my kids get cotton candy at special events like this, oh and I'm OCD about it, I only get the pink, not the blue and not the mixed in the bucket...what the heck is that, you need it on the stick thingy LOL.  To top things off it was cap night so we all got free SD Padres caps/hats. There really isn't a bad seat in the stadium, it was designed very well for a Baseb

Thanks

I made this the other day & forgot to post it.  I had just finished my swaps and all of my paper was still out, so I made a card :)  I actually used my Prisma color pencils, I always forget to use them.  It also helped that the challenge on SCS on Thursday was to use pencils, but I really like how this turned out.   "Thanks" Prism, Cosmo Cricket, Unity Stamp Co. August Kit of the month, Cosmo Cricket ribbon, buttons, twine Does anyone have fun plans this weekend?  We are going to go see the San Diego Padres vs the Colorado Rockies later on today (Major League Baseball for you ladies who don't follow sports  >"< )  Eating Hot dogs, drinking a soda and watching a baseball game with your kids, it doesn't get better than that! Be Safe this Weekend!

PTI Swaps Done

Image
These are my Papertrey Ink swaps (held on SCS) that I just finished.  So now I need to get them mailed off.  I am now done with all of my swaps I had signed up for.  Things are going to start to get hectic here soon.   The base of the card is PTI, but the white & red card stock is from Prism & the designer paper is Cosmo Cricket.  I used Spiral Bouquet and Mixed Messages stamp sets (both PTI) and stamed them with Spring Moss, Ruby Red and Memento Brown ink.  I made little tags and tied them onto the Cosmo Cricket ribbon using brown twine.  The felt scalloped ribbon is also from Cosmo Cricket. Anyhow, I hope the ladies like them, I can't wait to see what everyone else created! "Bloom"

Swaps

Image
I participated in a Unity swap, they asked us not to post our creations until everyone got theirs back, and since I just got my return swaps in the mail, I thought I would share them.  This first card is from the stamp set Birds of a Feather, I'm not sure what the price is, all I remember is that is was inexpensive & that is comes with a butt ton of stamps {love that!}.  The sentiment is also from Unity, I just don't have a clue as to what set.  You can't tell from the picture but in real life part of the tail and tummy are sparkly, I used a Sakura Stardust pen, to glitter it up.   "Thank You" Noteworthy dp, Vintage cream cs from PTI, Copics, dimmensionals, Old Olive twill, Kraft dp, Sakura Stardust pen, scallop tool For this card, I used Tiny Trinity, its really cute & versatile, I probably use this set the most right now.  The card stock is from Prism, and the designer paper is by Cloud 9, and the twill is from Martha Stewart "Family Tree" Pris

Unity Challenge Blog Hop

Image
So today (Wednesday) over on the Unity Forum on SCS there is a challenge to case one of the design team cards and then post it.  Also if you look on the right hand side of my blog you will see a list of Unity Challenge blog hoppers, go visit each of their blogs, and leave a comment one of them is giving away a free Unity Stamp set! For those of you who have not participated in Hip Hop Thursday (tomorrow) it is also on the Unity Forum, and they give away stamp singles and sets and sometimes handles through out the day.  So if you have hesitated about buying them, here is your chance to get them free!  Last week I won the single So N So loves, that I used on my card yesterday.  Let me tell you they do not skimp on the free stuff either, its awesome! So I cased the ever talented Maren's card that you can see here   I changed the paper that I used also the ribbon, I used the same stamp set but I stamped the image with versa mark and then embossed it using clear embossing powder.  I

friend

One of my best friends is going through a tough time right now, she recently lost her Dad.  I knew I wanted to make her a card, that always seems to put a smile on a person's face, to get pretty snail mail.  So today's color challenge ( cc181 black, kraft & rose red) work really really well together, so it just seemed to work.   I place a Unity order last week, then a few days ago I decided to get their kit of the month, so that came today.  The kit of the month not the first order, so maybe I will get that soon too >"<  Did anyone else get the stamp set for a $1 and a stamp for a penny?  It was a really good deal!  The background stamp isn't this big in real life, but I used my Stamp-a-majig for the very first time, and its the coolest thing ever!  Why did I wait so long?  Anyhow, I like how the card turned out it will go in the mail later & I hope it brings a smile on her face even for a moment. swaps

Image
I hosted my first swap, you have to be pretty organized & have a helper when you go to the post office to make it run smooth.  Here is one of my cards that I did, its pretty similar to one I made a few days ago.  The swap was a Flourishes swap, so we had to use those images on our cards.  This image is from Summer on the Patio.  The owners of Flourishes sent me tons of their May Arts ribbon that they sell, to put in with the swaps.  Let me tell you I just wanted to roll around in the ribbon and keep it for myself, but I was a good girl and sent it out with the swaps. On a side note something is wrong with our Desk top computer so that has made the last few days really tough to try and get the kids through their lessons (I homeschool).  We have a lap top and another PC in storage, but I have to be able to print off of that computer and we need two of them so the kids can be working at the same time.  Needless to say its been a long week and since we are down one computer my kids hav

thinking of you

Image
Now that the kids and I are getting in the groove of schooling, I only have a limited time to make cards.  WT180 was to have tearing in the card.  I have found that when you tear designer paper it looks better because most brands have a white core, its not dyed all the way through.  The image is from Unity's Tiny Trinity, and the sentiment is from Papertreyink's Anniversary set.  I used Graphic 45 paper {i know again} I can't help myself lol, and Prism paper.  The ribbon is 5/8 in grosgrain ribbon from SU. "Thinking of You"

Fun sketch

Image
Both of these cards I made using the same sketch, its really easy and turns out nice cards.  It was hosted by a little girl on Splitcoaststampers, her name is Amelia and came up with SC190.  Her sample was really good.  Anyhow, on to the cards... So Chris says that when I use Flourishes stamps I make fancy cards, so to prove I can make a fun and easy card with Flourishes images...this one is for you Chris >"<  {I heart her!} I used the image from Summer on the Patio, I just colored it in and then put diamond glaze over it so it looks like water.   "Celebrate" pretty in pink card stock, designer paper by Autumn Leaves, Images from Flourishes LLC, copic markers, Old Olive twill from SU, pink flower from Prima, button and twine, Adirondack ink oh and whisper white card stock from SU Here is another card using the same sketch, except this time I used Unity Stamp Co. stamps. Unity makes really fun and different stamps and they are really reasonable, I suggest using a go

Just Because

Image
I am hosting a Flourishes swap over on Splitcoaststampers (its closed now) and here is one of my cards that I made for it.  I am really loving the Graphic 45 designer paper, its so soft & pretty, not to mention its double sided, you have to love that!  I did the Joy fold for this, its still 4 1/4 in by 5 1/2 in, its just a fun and different fold, there is a tutorial on splitcoaststampers that Beate did if you want the details.  I would have liked to add a little bit more, but with swaps you are making so many of them, it gets to be a lot of work the more things you add.  So I am happy with them.  The image of course is from Summer on the Patio from Flourishes, in this set you get two of each image in different sizes.  I added a few buttons and ribbon to give the card a little texture, I still feel its missing something, can't figure it out yet.  Does that ever happen, a card looks ok and you know it could look great, you just don't know what to do?  I colored in the image w

Tiny Trinity Hello & Olympic Ramblings

Image
Is anyone else watching the Olympics?  I love them, on my must do list in my lifetime is to attend one, it would be so amazing.  My parents divorced when I was young, so to keep us busy we had to play a sport (and an instrument) so these are the sports I did, volleyball, swimming, track & baseball (with the boys) plus when my Dad ran his 5-10 mile a day run, we had to ride our bike with him or stay home and clean.  Needless to say sports was huge in my family.  I am addicted to the Olympics I wish it wasn't on in the middle of the night, I feel like I'm missing alot.  Did you hear they are thinking about getting rid of softball & baseball because no one can beat the US, that is so messed up in my opinion.  Anyhow you are not here to here about that on to the card >"< Today's color challenge is to use Close to Cocoa, Ruby Red & Blush Blossom.  This actually is a really pretty color combination, I will have to file it away in my favorites.  I used all t

Pretty Pitcher

I got a new stamp set from Flourishes yesterday, its called Summer on the Patio.  Its really a fun set, so I decided to ink it up for today's featured stamper challenge {knightrone} wow was her gallery fabulous!  While I was home I picked up some Graphic 45 paper, I thought it was really soft and pretty, so I used it in this card.  The cardbase is chocolate chip card stock layered with Kraft {SU} and then vintage cream by PTI.  I stamped the image on vintage cream paper and then put an oval nestability over it and ran it through my cuttlebug.  I couldn't find my dauber sponges, so I used tissue paper and brown Memento ink to distress the edges a little bit.  I colored in the image with some Copic markers. Oh just a little tip, sometimes adhesive doesn't stick well to satin ribbon, so I use dimmensionals to pop it up over the ribbon, it seems to work really well, not to mention it looks good too. Pictures of home

Well where I am from its where the vineyards {grape} meet the redwoods.  Its a beautiful place.  Here are some photos of a redwood grove called Montgomery Woods, near my hometown.  Part of it was burned actually 950 acres of this forest, but the firefighters fought hard and saved this redwood grove, it looks like its straight out of a fairy tale.  My son has never seen the redwoods before, so it was fun to see him run around and look at the trees with amazement.  They are the tallest trees in the world, and only grow in the Pacific Northwest & I believe parts of Japan. Me in front of a fallen Redwood tree the kids on a cute little bridge over a brook Its so hard to try and see the top walking through the grove entering the grove, if you look on the bottom left you can see the kids & my dad

Still away

I'm still in N. CA.  My Dad lives in the mountains so I do not have cell phone reception or internet.  So I'm sitting in a fast food parking lot because they have wifi to check my email and pay a few bills.  I tried to upload some photos but blogger wasn't working.  I will try to post them again tomorrow.   I hope you all are having a great week!

Twill Quilt

Image
I made this card a while back but I must have forgotten to share it.  A few years ago, Chris had sent me some twill like fabric that has adhesive on one side.  So I stamped some quilt blocks from the new Quilters Sampler set from PTI and then colored them in.  I cut out the little mini quilt and I wanted it to look ruffled & cozy, so after much primping this is how it turned out.  I really like it.  I almost added ribbon, but I think that would have been too much, so I settled on a couple of buttons.  I am working on a card set to give to one of my Aunt's, she makes the most beautiful quilts {kind of helps that she owns a quilt/fabric store}.  I think this will be a perfect gift. Well I am off to N. CA {not close to you Alex, maybe next time >"<} I will be visiting family for a few days, but I will try and blog while I'm there.  I am hoping to relax and make some fabulous cards in my down time.  Oh and eat my favorite food and go to the best bakery in the world.

Lots of Layers

Image
I am really loving the Noteworthy line of paper from Making Memories, I was planning on saving it for some of my scrap book layouts, because its so pretty but I  couldn't hold out anymore.  Plus to be completely honest, I am behind, way behind in my albums.   So anyhow, here is my card I used Julee's sketch for this.  There is 10 layers on this baby!  I don't think I have used this many layers before, but its really yummy in person.  This is definitely  a two or three stamp card >"< "Just because" vintage cream & spring moss card stock from PaperTrey Ink, Notewothy designer paper from Making Memories, Verve Stamps, PTI spring moss twill, Tim Holtz black soot ink, dimmensionals

few cards and a thanks

Image
If you go over to the Verve Forum on Splitcoaststampers , check out the master sketch list here to participate in the 12 day celebration {prizes are involved}. I started off with sketches #2 & 3, they seem a little easier, and I have limited time today, I did these while Jacob was still asleep.  Julee loves layers, so this is a great way to use up all of those scraps you have no idea what to do with. "The Best" cloud 9 designer paper, prism & bazzill card stock Verve Stamps, May Arts ribbon, Stardust jelly pen "Berry Thanks" whisper white, regal rose card stock, bazzill & prima dp, Papertreyink stamps regal rose ribbon, antique brads, prima flowers, Marth Stewart punch A big thank you to all of you, who expressed concerned about Jacob.  We still do not know what is going on, but he isn't in too much pain today.  Thank You for all of your well wishes!!

Sick Child not stamping related

So we spent another long night in the Emergency Room, its now 6am and we just got home a little while ago.  We still don't have any answers what is going on with Jacob, tomorrow {Sunday} we have to go back and see the Orthopedic Surgeon's, who knew you can see them on the weekends...I sure didn't.  To try and make a long and complicated story short, Jacob got a viral infection {common cold, flu stuff} and somehow it might of found its way into his hips and knee.  Tomorrow if things do not look good, they will have to take a needle and draw fluid out of his hip and knee, run labs on it, a smear test which you get back right away and a culture which takes a few days.  Another route is to have an MRI done, I don't know how he is going to keep still for an MRI, but its an alternative to scaring him for life about needles.  I just want my baby to feel better and to walk without pain.  This all started about a week and a half ago, he is normally a very active little boy.  It
