Funky Fun Coffee

Image
I got this really cool designer paper the other day, you can see the edges of it in the card, so that how the idea got started.  The Fantasy Floral Garden stamp set is my favorite set from Flourishes  and it has a few flowers in the set that would look really good with this paper.  Flourishes has a distinct classic style, but this paper gave me an idea to make it current and fresh.   I started by stamping the Coffee cup {coffee with friends} and then added a flower from Fantasy Floral Garden, so the image tied in with the paper.  I colored in the cup and flower with Copic markers & doodled in the saucer with a black micron pen.  I added some felt rick-rak ribbon and Basic Grey buttons to finish it off.  The designer paper is by Tinkeringink.  The button are much brighter in real life, they look faded in the card.

Card for Em and a challenge

Image
So today or yesterday? Is Emily's birthday, she is the owner/founder of Stamping Bella, so in honor of her birthday I made her a card {shannon is having a birthday card challenge over on the Bella forum on SCS}.  Isn't she too cute!  All of the paper is this cool textured paper by Bazzil.  I colored her in with Copics and put stickles over her apron and a few blingy things on the scallops.  The sentiment is from Verve. Today's limited supply challenge on SCS is to only use a brad as your only emellishment, I also paired this challenge with the challenge from Sharon {notimetostamp} to make a 10 minute card.  I used the stamps from Flourishes LLC Peony set and the sentiment is from the Siberian Iris set.  Again I used the cool textured paper.  I colored in the bee's and the flowers with Copics.  The brad is from Basic Grey. I am off to a hail and farewell with my hubby, gotta run >"<

Inchies Flourished style

Image
So yesterdays sketch challenge 182 was a card with squares, I changed mine a little and made it into a rectangle with my mega-nestabilities.  I used the Coffee with Friends stamp set by Flourishes I cut the white card stock in 1 inch squares, and stamped the coffee cups on them, rotating the stamp so they look random.  I then took out some Basic Grey Boxer paper {that Chris sent me} and stamped the same coffee cup on the paper.  I cut out the coffee cups, stamped them with a flourish on them {from Siberian Iris}, layed the cut out coffee cups on the white squares, trimmed the edges off the ones that needed to be trimmed and then put Diamond Glaze over the tops of them.  So now that they are dried the coffee cups look like they are made out of ceramic/porcelain.  So basically I paper pieced the coffee cups and then put Diamond Glaze over them >"< I used Chocolate Chip card stock for the base, Ruby Red and Stamper Select white Rectangle Megabilities dimmensionals Basic Grey Bo

This month is to make something using acetate, I chose to use vinyl because it is much thicker and its glossy on both sides.  When making a card with acetate/vinyl I always cut two of everything, why? because you do not want your tape marks to show.  So no matter what way you look at the card, it looks polished.  I tried to upload more pictures to show how I made the card step by step, but I am having blogger problems, so I will have to write a lot instead of show you. Here you can see a side profile of the card.  I did a gate-fold card.  I have to be really creative when using vinyl because everything kind of need to be hidden.  So on the inside I have a circle and then layered on top of the lavender moon circle, I got some aqua mist paper, scored it and then laid a smaller circle nestabilitie a little over the score line, so I have a little circle card.  Inside this little circle card is where I will put my hand written note/message. Here in this view you can see what I am talking ab

So yesterday I got a box of new Unity Stamps, so I played a lot today!  The first two cards, I took inspiration from today's color challenge, it was Wild Wasabi, Taken with Teal and Whisper white.  I would have never put these colors together, but they turned out nice. For this one I used the textile embossing folder on the whisper white cs.  The wild wasabi paper, I cut with a circle nestability along with all of the other circles.  All of the stamps are from Unity Stamp Co.  Oh on the bottom, I took out my dusty small creative memories circle punch and punched out a bunch of circles, and then ran them along the bottom of the white paper to create a scalloped border.   For this card, same colors again.  All of my stuff was out so why not make another card.    The frogs are from Pond Life {Papertrey Ink} and the rest of the images are from Unity Stamp Co.   SnowChristy on SCS does a sketch every week, so I played along and came up with this.  We went to the San Diego's Zoo Wild

Yesterday's featured stamper on SCS was "lostinthe60s!" Dianne.  She has a great gallery, and this is the card that I chose to re-do here .  I kept the integrity of the sketch the same but changed a few things.  Its a very simple card, but I love it.  The sentiment is from PTI and the image is from the cute Salt Box Studios stamp set I just picked up.  The designer paper is from the Honey Pie line from Cosmo Cricket and the ribon is SU, oh and the cuttlebug embossing folder is the textile folder.  I colored in the image with Copic markers. Well this is a quick post today, I have lots to do.  Stay hydrated and cool for all of you folks who have warm weather today.

New Stamps >"< & a tag

I went to the cutest Stamp Boutique yesterday, its called Paper Tales, here in San Diego.  If you are in the area go check out the store, you will love it.  So I picked up the baskets stamp set from Salt Box Studios.  Right now I am soooo multi-tasking right now, you would be impressed lol.  I have company coming over in a few minutes, so I am finishing up with the food.  For lunch we are have a cold pasta salad, turkey, cheese & avacado sandwiches on Focaccia bread, humus & pita chips, broccoli salad and grapes.  I am so hungry I am salivating looking at the food.  Anyhow, here are the two cards that I made with my new stamps, are they not the cutest baskets ever!!  There is a whole set of them with different themes, too cute.  The card stock in PTI stampers select white and then I used A-Muse polka-dotted designer paper & May Arts ribbon.  I stamped the image, colored them in with Copic markers, cut them out using Nestabilities, then put Diamond Glaze over the image, they

Chip Board Album

Image
How many of you still have your Cosmo Cricket kit you bought on tv earlier this year, that you still have not done anything with?  I have used some of the pieces here and there, but the meat of the kit has been sitting patiently, waiting to be love.  So last night I decided I wanted to make an album for my husband to take with him the next time he deploys.  I am pretty sure it is going to happen in the next year.  I want most of the little things like this done, before we know, so I am not in freak out mode trying to get everything done.  With that said, go get your chip-board and lets make an album! Here is what the album looks like naked >"< its screaming alter me, love me lol. Since this is Cosmo Cricket chip-board, my entire album is going to be everything Cosmo Cricket paper that I have been hoarding.  So go get your Cosmo Cricket paper out, if you don't have any CC, use your favorite paper.  I used the red really sticky double-sided tape, this stuff holds.  If you

Simple Cards

Image
I have a lot of mail to send out today, a few birthdays and I stamped of some images that I am sending to a few friends.  The first card is from yesterdays sketch challenge on SCS, I am really liking that sketch, I will have to file it away.  The bella was too long to fit on the white cardstock, so I stamped it on the cardstock and then stamped her again, colored her in, cut her out and then layered her over the ribbon.  The sentiment is from PTI, and to finish the card off I put three little pearls in a row.  The second card is going all the way to London, Nicola is always giving stuff away on her blog for doing her sketches.  I love her style.  So I am sending her a little something in the mail.  This card is a really simple design, I used my DIY monogramer I believe this is the Curlz set.  Instead of putting initials, I wrote "hi".  I used my nestabilities circle set to layer the circles, the textured cardstock is Bazzil, the white it PTI and the dp is from Cosmo Cricket.

Cute back-pack tutorial

Image
So I found this back-pack in the dollar spot at Target, and since Kendall has a pen-pal {"hi Emily"} I thought this would be a fun craft for us to do & send to her.  I only found one of these in the dollar spot, so go to Target and find one before they are gone. Get out your favorite stamps, and Pigment ink.  I used Palette because it is an all purpose craft ink, and its waterproof, so the ink will not wash out.   I repeated stamping the flower until I was happy with the look of it, the ink I used is Berry Sorbet by Palette sold through Papertrey Ink. I wanted to personalize the bag, using her name.  I start by stamping in the center of the bag, so everything is space and centered just right.  I don't use a ruler, I just eye-ball it.  I stamped her name in black stazon ink.  Again you want to use a permanent ink. After I inked the flowers and her name, I wanted to wow it up a litttle, so I used Palette L'Amore Red ink, to randomly stamp the flowers again in the re

Another layout and Father's Day card

Image
Here is a layout I did a few weeks ago, and the card I made for Father's Day to send to my dad.  I love turning my photos into black and white pictures.  I can use pretty paper and embellishments, but the photo still remains the focal piece.  Last year I bought the entire Dutch Girl line {by Cosmo Cricket}.  Do you see the words "There is only one pretty child in the world and every mother has it"  it actually was part of the paper but I cut it up to run along the photo as a border, but don't you just love that saying!  The flowers of course are from Prima, and the gross grain ribbon running along the side is SU. I am trying really hard to raise amazing children, so the sentiment "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail." was absolutely perfect {sentiment is from Unity Stamps}.  I want my children to dream big and to leave a trail. On to the card before I get too mushy here.  This image is also from Unity Stamp

Forget me not...

For about a week I avoided making this card.  One of my best friends, Mellisa, lost her dad Dave this past week.  Dave and his wife Cheryl were living angels to my family some years back.  I have Crohn's Disease and my husband is in the Navy, so when I am sick and have to be put in the hospital, this isn't a good combination.  I am in the hospital usually for 4 weeks, and my husband can't take that much time off of work, its just not allowed and unheard of in the military.  One time he was out to sea and I was going to die unless I was admitted, I had an abcess in my intestines the size of a grapefruit, which is very dangerous.  Mellisa said for me not to worry about it, that she would take care of the kids and she would send a red cross message to the sub.  Mellisa had a full time job, but she called her parents into action to help.  Jess got home in a few days, but when the sub came back he had to go to back to work.  Dave and Cheryl, drove an hour to my house to take my

getting knotty and vinyl coffee

Image
Todays Limited Supplies challenge WSC172, is about using knots on your cards.  Hello so me, so easy peasy.  Since all of my Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie paper is still out, I just kind of made a card similar to the one I made yesterday.  I used Aqua Mist paper and ribbon, because it matches the CC paper perfectly.  The stamp set is from PTI's Pond Life. The next card I used Flourishes new line of stamps called Stamp Simply and this set is called Coffee with Friends.  I love it...I am a coffee lover, so I am happy to have this set.  I used vinyl for the card base.  It is thicker than acetate so it stands up very nicely.  I paper pieced the coffee cups using BasicGrey's Infuse line of 6x6 paper.  The ribbon is from May Arts.  I hope everyone has a great Friday!

Honey Pie feel better

Image
I was at a scrapbook store yesterday or the day before...any how, I picked up this Honey Pie dp by Cosmo Cricket...isn't it yummy.  I am telling you ladies, this is just so fresh and fun, I love it, oh and its double sided, double score.  Anyhow, I have not inked up these stamps in a while, they looked sad and dusty, so I gave them some love today and inked those babies up >"<  Green Thumb from PTI is one of my favorite stamp sets ever, you can never go wrong with that set.  This is a simple sketch that I always go to when I need to make a quick clean card.  I used my circle nestabilities to make the layered circles {loving those nesties!} popped up with a dimensional gave it the look I was going for.  This spring moss gross grain ribbon from PTI matches the paper perfectly so I made a simple knot, folded it over the paper and used some really strong red adhesive to hold it in place.  Such a pretty card and it only took 5 minutes.  When you use things you love, its easy

Layout and a circle card

Image
I made this card yesterday for the skech challenge on SCS.  I changed the sketch from a traditional card into a circle card, but kept the main sketch elements.  I cut and scored it like normal, but then I got a big circle nestabilitie put it a little over the score line and then ran it through my cb to cut it.  Because I was using a thick card stock it embossed it too at the same time I cut it.  The dp is from the Honey Pie line from Cosmo Cricket.  I doodled along the edges just because lol.  The little bird is a snag-em that Chris sent me, that I colored in with Copics.  I didn't have a sentiment to stamp that I liked, so I just wrote "so tweet". The layout is for todays Ways To Use it challenge WT170, and you needed to use a photo in a card, layout etc.  So I did a layout.  I used a sketch {from snowchris on scs} so it made it faster for me to do.  The dp is from the Lily Kate line from Basic Grey.  The stamps are from Flourishes, Fantasy Floral Garden and Flourished E

I scrapped!

Image
I went to a scrapbook store yesterday and found this yummy paper made by Making Memories.  Isn't it delicious!  I had to have it, a layout came to me right there and then...don't you love it when that happens. The sentiment is a single stamp from Unity Stamps...if you like to stamp on your layouts, these stamps are for you because they are huge!  Anyhow, I distressed it a ton, and turned it into a tag, by adding twine to it.  The felt ribbon is from the Cosmo Cricket set I got from QVC a while back.  I think the buttons might be from MM too...but not sure.  I didn't have any flourishes that flowed with this page, so I doodled some myself with a black micron pen, added dots and then colored it in with a Copic marker. This picture was taken in Pensacola Beach, FL.  It was a such a fun day, my inlaws were visiting for my husbands winging & we just hung out on the beach and had an impromptu photo shoot.  I love being a Mom, is just so bittersweet watching your kids grow up.

Color Challenge

Image
The color challenge this week on SCS was to use Real Red, So Saffron & Regal Rose.  At first I thought this would be easy peasy, but what was in my brain and what came out, got lost in translation.  After tweaking it a bit, this is what I ended up with.  I went with the rule of 3's.  The yellow ribbon on the top corner is not SU {shhh} its PTI's grosgrain ribbon.  I had put the Red and Regal Rose ribbon on before I noticed I didn't have any SU So Saffron ribbon, it matches pretty well, so I'm not worried about it.  The butterfly punch is by Martha Stewart, and that's a good thing >"<. The images are from Spring Ephemerals set from Flourishes and the "hello" sentiment is from Fantasy Floral Garden.  I think I might re-make this card but change it up a little.  Like making it longer and using different colors lol.  I hope everyone has a good Wednesday and stays cool.

Fun card and featured stamper

Image
Yesterday's Featured Stamper on SCS was YLM{cindy}, I changed everything on the card but recreated it by using the same sketch.  I have yet to use my Summer Sunrise paper, ribbon & ink, so they got some love.  The background stamp is Damask from Flourishes, I stamped it in white stazon ink.  I don't have a huge block for it, so I ink the stamp up really good, lay my paper on top, put a scratch piece of paper over it, and then use a brayer and my fingers to get the ink on the paper.  It works really good.   I bought a Martha Stewart border punch & I have been wanting to use it.  I love the effects it gives, but it will not punch through heavy cardstock, it barely wanted to go through the black Basic Grey designer paper.  I wasn't sure about the black paper at first, but I love it now, it really makes the card pop.  The sentiment and the frog images are from Papertrey inks, Pond Life set.  There was too much yellow/orange going on, so I stamped another frog in Garden

Dream Bedroom IC131

Every saturday on SCS there is an inspiration challenge.  Here is one of the pictures to take inspiration this week.  I love the closet panels in the background, so thats where I started with the card.  I made a clear card yesterday, I had a 1/2 sheet still out, so I went clear.  The picture has hints of pink and green, so I added in green May Arts ribbon and pink Basic Grey paper for accents in the card. I used vinyl not acetate, its thicker but if you stamp directly on it you need to be careful because its slippery lol.  The images are from Sping Ephemerals and Fantasy Floral Garden from Flourishes.

Happy Mail

Image
Look what I got in the mail today from Chris!!  I love snail mail packages from her.  She went to the CKU convention in New Hampshire last month, and she got me a few things >"<  Stamps, paper and primas, I love them!  She also made me a beautiful anniversary card, and sent my children gummie "lobstahs", a duct tape wallet for Jess and Jacob and a little notebook for Kendall to alter.  Jacob thinks his duct taped Yankees wallet is "so cool", who knew lol
