Is anyone else having problems with blogger today? These pictures took forever to upload!! I am so proud of myself. Today I did another page for my daughter :) but everything was from stuff I already have and I used my cricut...which had some serious dust bunnies on it, & I used some stickers. I have soooooo many stickers, but do I ever use them anymore, hhmmm "no". I even have them hanging underneath a shelf, so I can see them. Its almost like a store because they are all in there packages hanging there perfectly...but too perfect to use...I know, I must be 1/2 crazy...we all are >"<> I'm focusing now, back to the page. All of the paper is from the Pheobe line of BasicGrey, and I used my handy dandy cricut to cut out some sweeeeet letters from the Doodletype cartridge. The pink flowers are Got Flowers Deux {primas} with little silver brads in the center. The vellum sticker {definition of a girl} is from EK success that I bought forever ago at AC Moore

My daughter is turning 12 years old at the end of February. She loves all things crafty & would love nothing more than to spend the weekend just making cards and "stuff". She has her own school days album that I continually work on & a friends album that she works on. This spring we will be moving, we are all used to this being my husband is in the military. However, this move is going to be the hardest for my daughter. She has become so attached to her group of girlfriends, so I thought as one of her gifts this year I would make her an album. I emailed friends and family asking if they would make a page to put in the album as well. It is going to be a 6 in. x 6 in. album. Since this is a surprise gift, I have to work on it in secret, that means my time is limited to when Kendall is at school or sleeping. Today I finished the first page of the scrapbook. Just a simple clean card I made to get out in the mail today. The cardbase is SU River Rock, & the dp is Ginger Blossom. I used SU scallop punch to punch out the white paper, then a Marvy scallop punch to punch out the groovy guava textured paper. Images are from Sidekick Sayings (retired hostess set) and It's all good, both from SU. The ribbon is grosgrain chocolate chip, and I watercolered the image with prisma pencils. Do you ever go somewhere, or maybe you are in the shower, and someone calls and your husband answers the phone but he forgets to tell you until oh...4 hours later or you are getting into bed? My husband is famously known to forget to give me a message and then it is way too late at night to return the call. I havn't been feeling well & I got invited to go to the movies with a bunch of gals last night, but I knew I couldn't sit through a 2 hour movie so I had to say no. Also my husband already had plans to go out with a friend. While he was gone, I made this notepad to take messages. A while ago I went to Target and in the dollar bins were 4x6 were these notpads, they are like post-it notes but the Target brand. This pad was screaming to be altered. So I went and got a 12x12 piece of paper and cut a piece so it was 4 1/2in x 12in. I scored it at 6in & 6 1/4in. So it left the front about 3/4in short. So did anyone visit Flossie's blog a few weeks ago and she totally was an enabler LOL. She had posted a pictures of this and HSN was selling is earlier than in stores and was cheaper. Well I bought it hehe and it came in the mail yesterday. Its the new Crop-a-dile called the Big Bite. I have only played with it once so far, but it does some pretty impressive stuff. The next two cards are going to Beate she has the blog Fresh and Fun (we all know who she is lol) Her husband is deployed right now and she wants to fill a box with blank Valentine's Day Cards so the guys and gals can send a Valentine home. My husband is at a training command right now, but in the past when he was deployed the men appreciated stuff like this, so I am more than willing to send a few cards to her. I made this card for the sweetest little girl Savannah who just turned two. I don't get to see her very often (since we live in different states) but I wanted to send a card to let her know I was thinking of her (her mom anyway...don't think Savannah remembers me) Erica who is Savannah's mom, we have been friends since we were 14 years old...not to give my age away but its going on 18 years this year. My husband is in the military and we left California when my oldest was three years old. So it makes me sad sometimes knowing our kids can't grow up together and get to know each other better. Jess and I are really lucky to have great friends we have found during our travels. Most of them we consider family now. So even though we miss our family and friends in California, in each new town we meet people who welcome us in with open arms and it as though we have known each other forever. After my daughter finished & sent out her thank you cards I thought it might be a good time to finish mine :) My inspiration came from some newly bought May Arts ribbon. Its double sided stitched satin ribbon, I love it and have it in many different colors. I find it much easier to make a card if I have an idea of what I want to use, be it ribbon, paper or a stamp etc. The ribbon is pretty close to purely pomegranite and barely banana (SU colors), so I grabbed the cardstock in those colors. Then I went through my designer paper and looked for a sheet that matched both. I chose a BasicGrey paper from the Blush line. The image is from Michael's dollar bin stamped in purely pomegranite. I ran the barely banana cardstock through my Cuddlebug using the thank you embossing folder. If a card looks too plain and I don't want to use more designer paper, I will dry emboss the background. It makes a card pop without spending anymore money on it. I think that is what prevents me from s

I am sooooo behind in getting thank you cards out, so last night I started another attempt to finish them. For this card all I knew is that I wanted to make a 3x6 card, I had never made one, but they look really cute. I also wanted to use my new BasicGrey two scoops paper. While going through my 12x12 cardstock, I realized I need more 12x12 plain heavy paper. So I settled on this green cardbase, if I remember right I think it might be Bazzill. The brackets are by Inque Boutique that have been sitting in their package waiting patiently to be inked up. The bird image is from the Fun and Fast notes by SU. I stamped it in black stazon ink because I wanted to try my first attempt at watercoloring with mineral spirits...eeeck lol. I am a beginner at this and I really didn't know if I was doing it right or not, so it took forever to color! I have a small set of 12 watercolor Prisma pencils so I had to blend alot for the image to match the paper. I am really happy with the results. As a

A huge thank you to Chris and my dss "Mary"! I got two great packages in the mail today. The first few pictures are the things Chris sent to me. She is a best friend that anyone would love to have. Plus she loves paper crafting as much as I do! She doesn't make me feel guilty about buying or hoarding too much, we both have a "thing" about cutting into pretty paper when you don't have much left of it lol . Anyhow, In the package today there was a book called Get Real Greetings, all I have to say is hilarious and perfect! A Cuttlebug embossing folder (friend), 3 cards, 3 monogramed notebooks...one for me, my daughter and son, gummie Lobsta's (or lobters if you are not from New England) and an altered papertrey packaging box, that she turned into a candy holder for Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. I took a closer picture of that :) She hand stamped and punched each peanut butter cup and stamped "friend" in the center. It had to take a long time

I made this card for Sara, she has hosted 3 Papertrey swaps now on SCS, so I put this in with my swaps as a thank you note. The images are from the set Sweet Love by Papertrey ink. I used white cardstock as the base and layered it with Cosmo Cricket paper. I stamped the hearts in black stazon ink. The tab on the top was made by using a SU tab punch (I love that thing). The next layer is in white cardstock, stamped with Palette L'Amore Red and black stazon ink. I had some retired SU organdy ribbon, so I stamped that too and attached it with a staple. I just wanted to say thank you to her, hosting a swap I imagine can be very stressful at times. The size of this card is 4x4 which I don't normally make, but square cards are fun to do, to change it up a little :)

I meant to post this card on Friday...but my husband had to go out of town and he took my camera. That meant no uploading pics for me. Last week I was struggling with finding my creativity, everything that I made I did not like. I'm sure the cards were fine but they all lacked something that I couldn't figure out. So I went back to this simple sketch that I use when my mojo is not flowing :) For some reason the yellow on the boot is showing up really bright, but in real life its more subtle and blends well. I used the Green Thumb stamp set from Papertrey ink. This is one of my favorite sets by them. The yellow and blue paper are from SU , they are retired so I have no idea what the real color name is...? I stamped the sentiment in stazon black, and the boot is stamped in old olive & summer sun. The ribbon is from May Arts, when I bought the ribbon I only bought a few yards, so I have been hoarding it. However, it went well with the card, so that ribbon had to

Hiphip hooray, a complete set of one of my swaps is done (shown above >"<) I used the same sketch that I used the other day which made things a little easier. However, deciding on paper and colors, that took more time than I would have liked. So I settled on basic grey paper, the LilyKate line. What I love about this sketch when I use it is how little paper I use. The bottom layer of ds is 4in x 3 in, so that only takes 1/2 sheet of a 12 x12 piece of paper. Then the second layer is 2 1/2 in x 3in, so that uses less than a 1/2 sheet of 12 x12. I know this might sound crazy, but I hoard paper its really becoming OCD like. So sometimes I cannot cut into a piece of paper because I think I need to save it for when I might really need it (I know I have issues LOL). So when I use this sketch I still have a 1/2 sheet of paper left exactly 6in x 12in, enough to spare for when I really need it LOL. The other day when I made the altered composition book for myself, my daughter Kendall wanted one too, but I was out of the double sided red tape. I can't recall the brand I use but it comes in a red roll and its very very strong, its in the aisle with adhesives. Anyhow, so we went to Hobby Lobby and got some more of the tape and last night, Kendall finally made her notebook :) I let her go through all of my paper, and believe me I have more than anyone should. Well she picked out paper that is at least 5 years old, imagine that. Its designed by Susan Branch. Do you remember when her paper was popular? I don't even know if she has a line of paper anymore? After she picked out the paper and we stamped and distressed, it was just missing something. So into the craft room we go...some ribbon, brads & primas and this notebook was done :) I really enjoy when we craft together, its fun and she gets one on one time. I have to get my papertreyink swaps done! I thought this was it until I realized there is no embellishment on the card. Each swap has to have at least two layers and an embellishment. Maybe I will add ribbon or brads. I used the new SU ginger blossom paper. The flowers are all stamped in Ruby Red, the flowers that are lighter in color are still in Ruby Red. I just did generation stamping, its when you keep stamping the same image without re inking . I distressed the edges of the whisper white and river rock paper with a ruby red stamp pad just to make the paper pop, sometimes it just makes a card flow better. The stems are stamped in mellow moss which is now a retired color from SU , but it looks a lot like river rock so I used it. All of the images are from the Green Thumb set from Papertreyink . I know its an older set, but I just bought it so its new to me, and I love it! Its has a great springtime feel to it, which I cannot wait for...I do not do well in cold weather,

OK, so you know how in the last post I wrote about how I couldn't get creative last night and so I altered myself a composition book. Well good thing the book is for me because I spelled thought wrong if you look down at the book i spelled it thougt...I left the H out. I am so mad at myself I can't stop laughing and I can't call Chris because she is probably sleeping...she is in another time zone. Note to self and all other stampers/crafters do not craft at night when you think you have mojo LOL because no one is awake to spell check for you HAHAHAHAHA.

So I'm done traveling, my dad is back in CA, (he was here for about 11 days) my husband is back to work and the kids go back to school on Monday. It has been a very busy last few weeks. Not to mention I am battling with a minor Crohn's flare up. I keep telling myself I have been through worse than this, so things are going to be OK. Well I made a compostition book like this for my neice Wentir (sounds like winter) for Christmas, because she loves to write and draw. Plus my brother and her mom can never find anything with her name on it. So I guess the morning of Christmas she opened up her present from me (well the comp book) and she was so excited that she had her own book with her name on it. The whole time I was altering her book I kept thinking that I wanted it, and an 8 year old isn't going to care about some notebook. So I was happy to hear my hard work was appreciated.
