I'm Back

This last week or so have been nuts, between the kids activities, Jesse's work schedule being crazy, & turning 31 I have felt the urge to drink an adult beverage, I have refrained. Then to top everythink off, I flew to CA, from New Orleans ( I live in florida 3 1/2 hours away) on Tuesday, went to dinner with family, dropped off xmas presents (all in Sacramento) went back to the hotel went to sleep aroun 11pm because I was jabbing it up with my inlaws. Got to the Sacramento airport around 6am, find a Starbucks get my latte and then found a seat. Check in was a breeze! So I finally get into New Orleans, my family meets me there and my husband surprises me by saying we should go to Emerils. It was pure heaven, I will need to have a full day to blog to describe the food that I ate all that comes to my mind is AMAZING!! So we stay the night (wed) get up and just tool around waiting for my dad to arrive. His flight wasn't delayed so I was so thankful for that!! On our drive home

Cookie Swap

Image
So I am in this cookie swap and I have to make 11 dozen brownies...yes you read right 132 brownies. Well I went to all of the stores to get some containers to put them in, but they are not cheap. $4 dollars isn't much money, but when you times it by 11...thats $44, and most likely they will end up throwing the container away. I am extremely busy in my life right now, but I had some time to make these bags instead of buying containers. Inside of the bag will be a cellophane bag which the brownies will go into to keep them fresh. Have any of you been checking out Tim Holtz's blog lately? Well I have and he has inspired me to make a cute tag. Now this isn't the best tag I have ever made, but I do like it. And to be completely honest, I took some cold medicine and made this about 1/2 after I took it, I really should have stopped and went to bed, but I really wanted to finish it. When the brownies are cooling I am going to make recipe cards to go inside the bag as well. Once

Going out of town

I am going out of town to be a chaparone for my daughter's school robotics team. They won 2nd in Octoboer in our region, so I guess its considered nationals for the competition this weekend. We leave on charter buses in the morning, and I will be back on Sunday. I have been trying to be crafty the last few days, so I have a few things to share when I get back. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Did I mention we are going to Auburn, Alabama? Well that's where we are going (I live in Florida, but born and raised in California), and its pretty "redneck" there from what I hear, so it should be very interesting to say the least. One positive thing is that I will get to eat some good food! Well I will talk to ya'll when I get back :)

Christmas card idea #1

Image
Holy moly did it take forever to upload this picture! First of all, my camera batteries are dead so I barely got this on my pc, then I was having problems with blogger...it took longer to get the card on here than it did to make it...and it took a while to make :) I know I havn't posted anything in a while, however my youngest has been sick and I havn't been feeling well (sidenote, I have Crohn's Disease) and I think I might be having a little flare up. Not that its the best excuse, but I havn't had any energy and my creativity was zapped out of me. Enough of that let's get to the card. So I havn't made my Christmas cards yet!!!! I know I am way behind but they will be completed by the end of the weekend to be mailed out on Monday. So I sat down and made this earlier today, I really wanted to use my Snowflake Serenade set by Papertrey, but it seemed a little plain alone, so I added the flourish from Baroque Motifs by SU. You can't really tell but there is d

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving! I cooked so much food it would have fed my entire street. There is a ton of turkey left from the 20lb bird I bought. Tomorrow I will make turkey enchiladas and turkey soup & then freeze 1/2 of it. So I went shopping on black friday...I stayed up, made myself some coffee to charge up and then left my house at 3:15 am! I got to Kohls and the line was wrapped around the store. I wasn't getting hot electronic items, I was there to get some awesome deals on clothes. I spent around $150 but saved almost $400. The only thing that kind of sucked was that I was in line for about 1 hour 45 minutes. I was so tired driving home it was a 30 minute drive and what I really wanted to do once I hit my driveway was to go climb into bed. However I didn't, I took everything out of the bags, wrapped everything and then put the presents under the tree. I just went to take a picture of our Christmas Tree, but my camera batteries are dead. I

Paper Christmas Tree

Image
So a while back I was blog surfing and I saw a tree like this on someones blog (sorry I don't remember the blog name). I thought it looked really easy to make. A few days ago I went to Joann's, and bought some styrofoam cones. This one is the tallest one they sell, I thinks its around 18 inches or so. I cut paper 1/2 inch by 6 inches, bring both edges together, get a sewing pin & push through the paper and into the cone. I used the red pearlized decorative pins, because the top row the pins are visable. Oh, and I started at the bottom. Before I ever began, I did spray the cone with glitter spray paint, because I didn't like the white. The paper used in this tree was in the Provo Craft holiday slab pack. For the star, I used SU chipboard then painted it with an Adriondack acrylic paint dabber in red pepper. Once dry I used SU heat & stick powder and dazzling diamonds, to make the star sparkle. This was really easy to make, but I think it would look even better with

I got some new Bella's

Image
I recieved my first Bella's in the mail yesterday (4 of them to be exact!) A few of my neighbors found out that they are expecting this week. This card I am going to make 6-8 cards for a set for one of them. Myself along with my neighbors are all military. So since none of us live around family, Jen can send these out to a few people. I also recieved a Stampin Up order yesterday as well...it was a good mail day. In the order was heat & stick powder and stampin glitter. This technique was easy peasy, there are so many possabilities :) Well this has to be a quick one, I have to run out the door before my daughter is late for school! Materials used: whisper white , river rock and chocolate chip cardstock, K & Co designer paper, Chocolate chip satin ribbon, stampin chalks, heat & stick powder, dazzling diamonds glitter, scallop punch SU, scallop punch Marvy stazon black, ture thyme, Bella image, safety pin image by studio G

Mojo sketch #11

Image
I decided to work on a Monday mojo challenge actually on a Monday, rather than waiting until the end of the week. This was a crazy weekend so I didn't to sit down and create until today. Friday was my son Jacob's birthday, he turned 7! So I was at school with him all day, I brought pizza and cupcakes for his class. Saturday we went to the Blue Angel's homecoming show, its their last show of the season, it has become a tradition for us to go since living in Florida. Oh and Friday night we went to dinner with friends and then went over to their house afterwords. So back to Saturday, when we got home we relaxed for a little while. Then my neighbor had a pj and dessert get together. I made cresent rolls with nuetella and sliced bananas...they were YUMMY!! Sunday I relaxed for a while because I was exhausted, but I finally pulled myself off the couch and went to Joann's to pick up a few things. Then today, Monday, my son Jacob was in a Veterans Day Parade with his Boy Scout

Monday Mojo sketch challenge

Image
Here is my card that I did using Julee's sketch for this week ( www.poeticartistry.blogspot.com ). I know I'm on a wild wasabi & real read color combo kick, but I really can't help myself :) I did not change the sketch which was a rule this week and its a square card, 4 1/4 x 4 1/4. Today is my son's birthday so I really have to multi task today, so I made this card while I was on the phone with one of my best friends Chris (she has a blog too, so go check her out... www.chriscorner-23.blogspot.com ) I really like to make clean simple cards so this fit perfectly into my style. I hope everyone has a great Friday!!! Materials used: wild wasabi, real red & whisper white cardstock, Merry & Bright stamp set by SU, printed paper by Provo Craft holiday slab, ballet blue ink, red and green prismacolor colored pencils, 5/8 in. real red grosgrain ribbon, snowflake and round brads by the Paper Studio, ticket corner punch by SU, scallop circle punch by Marvy

New Stamps :)

Image
Yesterday in the mail I got my new Stampin Up stamps and other things, so it was a happy mail day! I bought one of the stamp sets out of the mini-catalog and I am loving the die-cut stamps it was wonderful just to pop them out instead of cutting rubber. Wild Wasabi is the perfect green. I think I'm going to use it in my Christmas cards this year. This weekend I will have to play around with my stamps and see if I can come up with a proto-type for this years xmas card. Materials used for the pocket card: whisper white, wild wasabi & real red cardstock, Provo Craft holiday paper, SU ticket punch, SU scallop punch, wild wasabi double stitched ribbon, real red 5/8 grosgrain ribbon, white satin ribbon from Micheals, paper clip, hole punch, creative memories punch, SU chalk, SU Wishing you Cheer stamp set & Circle of Friendship stampset. I am loving the Purely Pomegranite satin ribbon! I now have to have it in Chocolate Chip, I don't care that its $9.95 its worth it and you

PaperTrey Ink Swap

Image
Here is my PaperTrey Ink swap on SCS. I decided to go with my Believe set, with the Holidays coming up. You could use any PaperTrey stamp set, so I am excited to see what everyone else comes up with. These babies are due Nov. 15th so I need to get them in the mail asap. FYI, I'm sure most of you know this, however the 15th of every month PTI announces new products :) I love all of their products! Happy Tuesday. I just took my son to his elementary school, now I'm off to drop my daughter off at her Middle School...today is going to be a Starbucks day, I can feel it >"< Materials used: whisper white cardstock, designer paper from Provo Craft Holiday Slab V, bazzill red cardstock, stazon black ink, prismacolor pencils, ribbon from Micheal's, marvy scallop punches, 3 dimensional foam adhesive

Cub Scout Paper bag Albums

Image
Here is the example I made for my son's Tiger Cub Scout den. Tonight the boys have to make an album to earn a badge, so this is what they are going to be making, paper bag albums. I didn't journal or add any kind of embellishments to it yet. I figured that might send some Dad's and six year old boys over the edge, they need simple. Last night I cut all of the paper and ribbon, made hole punches in the paper bags, and made little inserts for the opening on the sides. So all the boys need to do is assemble them and add their pictures. Simple enough which the Dad's will appreciate since there is Monday night football tonight :). Materials used: small brown paper bags, ribbon, K & Co Cub Scout paper, brown marker, hole punch

Girl Scout Project

Image
My daughter had a Girl Scout meeting today and the girls worked on a badge called "Doing Hobbies" Guess what the hobby was...Card Making :) So I pre-cut and scored everthing for all 4 cards, 12 of each for a total of 48. I made them very simple, considering the meeting is only 2 hours. They were all Christmas cards, and after Thanksgiving the girls are going to bring them to a Nursing home along with cookies. The girls did really great and were easy learners. All of the cardstock and images are Stampin Up, the printed designer paper is Christmas Creating Keepsakes paper pack, the ribbon is from Micheals, and ink used was chocolate chip, basic black, wild wasabi & garden green, scallop punches are by Marvy

A big Thank You to Beth

Image
Remember when I posted a few weeks ago about a neighbor down the street giving me Walt Disney World tickets...for free(Beth). Well I finally got a gift basket and a card together. This is a really simple and clean card. Sometimes I think i get all crazy with embellishments, layers and techniques that I forget that a lot of times simple is better. It was really hard to give her the basket because it was so yummy! It had different starbucks coffee, chai tea, hot chocolate, diet coke (her favorite drink) Harry and David Moose Munch, Harry and David truffles, really fancy chocolate bars, starbucks mug, coffee creamer, caramel coffee syrup, some other things and a Starbucks gift card. This is a bad picture of the basket because it doesn't show everything, but you get the idea. For the card: whisper white cardstock, ruby red cardstock, heartfelt thanks stamp set, stazon black & ruby red ink. may arts ribbon...easy peasy card!

Cute little trick or treaters

Image
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! Jacob was Harry Potter and Kendall was a witch this year. I passed out candy and Jess took the kids around the neighborhood. Normally it is the opposite, so it was nice getting to just sit on my behind and talk to all the kids that stopped by.

My little Cub Scout

Image
Tonight my son received some awards at his Pack meeting. He is the cutest Tiger Cub Scout! Tiger Cubs are the youngest of Boy Scouts and they are normally 6 years old and in the first grade. Jacob has been working really hard to get things "signed off" so he can earn more slides and badges. They just finished up their popcorn sales and he got to pick out a prize based on his sales. He wanted a knife really bad, so he picked out this whamadine pocket knife that has a flash light on it and everything, plus it has the Boy Scout emblem on it so that made it even better. At the next meeting, which is next Monday, to earn a badge/slide they need to make a scrapbook. So my husband volunteered me, which is fine, to go in and make Paper bag scrapbooks with them. Can you see 10 dads trying to make albums and decorate them...I envision duct tape lol. These boys are going to make some cute scrapbooks...did you know they make Cub Scout paper! I picked some up a few weeks ago, I don'

Busy Week & Photo Editing

I have not posted in a week...holy moly! With all of the activities my children are in and my son getting sick, my time has just slipped away from me lately. I am going to do my PaperTrey swaps tomorrow, so I will be posting them soon. I was going to post some before and after pictures (before editing them and after) but something is wrong with blogger and I cannot upload any pictures....what a bummer. Well I hope you all had a great weekend. I guess I can go catch up on my tivo-ed shows :)

Treat Swaps

Image
I finished up my "Treat your fellow swapper" swaps up today. It has been so hot I just couldn't mail them out, so I would just sit and look at the treats. But because we have had rain the last few days and the temperature has dropped a little, I sent them out today. I couldn't fit everything that I sent in the picture, but here are a few of the items I put in each of the swaps. I bought starbursts , that come in the boxes, like the ones you get at the movies...I used my score-pal to make sleeves for each one. Then I made 3 x 3 cards to coordinate, I need things to match :) So I had some Hershey's nuggets laying around and avery labels, so I stamped some labels using Papertrey Ink's stamps and wrapped up those nuggets. Not pictured but in the swaps were those swirly suckers that I bought at Walt Disney world, twizzlers , and other suckers. They turned out pretty cute. I used Moxxie paper the Bump in the Night series/Eek, Purple Bazzill cardstock , Whisper

Mojo Monday Challenge

Image
Julee over at http://www.poeticartistry.blogspot.com/ has a challenge every Monday and she calls it "Mojo Monday" all of her sketches are always awesome, but I never get to play. However this weekend I finally made a card using her sketch, cool huh!! The base of the card is More Mustard, all of the printed designer paper is by My Mind's Eye...you gotta love double sided paper. I used SU All in a Row and Eat Cake. Chocolate Chip & More Mustard ink. Ribbon is from Martha Stuart

Fun Weekend

Image
My son and husband went camping with the Cub Scouts this weekend. So my 11 yr old daughter had the house to ourselves. I pulled almost everything out of my craft room and put it in the dining room, I had to clear the buffet and add two more tables for everything to have a place. So I scrapbooked, made some cards and did a few altered items, it was FANTASTIC! So here is one of the layouts I did. I used the Secret Garden Simply Scrappin' kit from SU. I really love this kit. The stickers are not like normal stickers, these are really really thick and I like that. I am definately going to buy more of these sets!! The pictures are from when we still lived in South Carolina. It has been a little over a year since we have moved but I still miss Charleston everyday. It is such a beautiful city. I believe these were taken around Easter last year, and we had gone to a really nice restaraunt downtown. The kids looked so adorable in their outfits, and isn't Jacob's hat too cute!! So

Blog Candy

Image
While I was blog surfing, as I do, I realized I received blog candy in the mail yesterday and forgot to post it... eek . Michelle over at Mish Mash aka www.michellewooderson.blogspot.com sent this to me, she has a great blog so go check her out. This card is stunning in real life, the photo does not do it justice. This stamp set is so incredibly cute I cannot wait to ink it up. Thank you again Michelle!!

Baby Card

Image
I sent this card off to a lady I know who is having her second child, but her first daughter. I wanted it to be really feminine, pretty and try to personalize it in some way. You can't see from this picture but I outlined the baby carriage with stickles . I love how the polka dots in the ribbon match the dots on the carriage. Isn't it cool how things turn out sometimes without consciously thinking about it?!? Green and lavender cardstock is by Bazzill, white cardstock in SU whisper white. All images are by Stampin Up. Versamark and SU pale plum ink. SU pale plum chalk. May Arts Ribbon, Making Memories and Prima flowers. Brads by Making Memories, Stickles, and I don't remember the brand of the silver letters. chipboard is by technique tuesdays.

Back Home from Disney

Image
We made it home safe and sound :) We were only there for a few days, however it was worth it. The hotel we stayed at is called Disney's Dolphin Resort. There was no way to explore the hotel in a weekend but lets just say, that there is 5 pools, a spa, tons of stores, 17 restaraunts and they have Heavenly Beds in every room (which are very comfy and cozy). For those of you who don't know, I called the morning we were leaving to get reservations at different places, and as I always do I asked if there were any seats available at Cinderella's castle, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. My daughter and I have been before but my son hasn't. Just a little background info, you need to call the reservation line 180 days out for the day you want to eat at Cinderella's castle thats how fast it books. To make a long story short they had 4 seats for breakfast!!! So you walk in, and they announce your name(I didn't hear ours but I think it was because we all were so excited) an

Going to Walt Disney World

Image
I try to take my pictures during the day, so this isn't the best picture to post. However I'm taking the kids on a spur of the moment trip to Walt Disney World this weekend. A very sweet neighbor down the street gave us a one day pass to the Magic Kingdom. So needless to say I have a lot to get done tonight. I am working on my getting "mojo" for my Christmas cards, this is a warm up card. I go through several prototypes/samples before I have my finished project. I worked on this to get me into the x-mas spirit. Its hard to think about Christmas when you live in Florida and its still 90 degrees outside. Its a really simple card, and will be easy to add more to really make it pop. Materials used: Stampin Up whisper white cardstock, true thyme cardstock, true thyme classic ink pad, basic black ink pad, versamark, All in a row stamp set, Wishing you cheer stamp set, Sentiment from Papertrey Ink, textile Cuddlebug embossing folder, satin ribbon, score-pal I hope everyone h

Beate's sketch challenge

Image
I finally have done one of Beate's sketch challenges, creativity must ooze through her body because everything she makes is incredible! This is WSC 22. Lets see I started out with close to cocoa base which I ran through my cuddlebug , with the d'vine swirl embossing folder. Can I just say how much I love those folders, love them :). The designer paper is by Daisy Bucket Designs, the Astor Park Collection, I used Emilie St. & Clay St. Its double sided paper, I really think all dp should be double sided, there are so many more possibilities you can do with it. Anyhow, I layered whisper white cardstock on top. I used four different stamp sets to make this card; Fast & Fun note, Polka dots and Petals, All in a Row, and In the Loop Alphabet all by Stampin Up. For ink I used Close to Cocoa, Purely Pomegranate , Versamark and Basic Black Stampin ' write marker. The brads in the top right corner are from the $1 spot at Target, the lower corner is a Prima flower and s
Image
I inked up my heartfelt thanks stamp set and made this card. I really struggle making black and white cards, but I think I did ok on this one. Plus I addes a splash of red in there too. I bought some of the bazzil scalloped rectangle paper and just scored it in half for the base. I had some left over red bazzil paper from the invitations I made so I used that, and then layered some whisper white cardstock stamped with real red and stazon black on top of the red. The background flower images and the thanks were also stamped with black stazon. I bought some black primas and havn't used them yet so I paired it with a white prima and attached them with a brad. All in all I am very happy with this card. I need to make an envelope and get this mailed out for a big Thank You! Well I have to make this fast, I just ordered a pizza and I need to go pick it up. Have a great Friday :)

Criss Cross Invitations

Image
Here is a picture of the baby shower invitations I had been working on. 30 cards later and a few alterations, here is the finished product. I originally had a strap that went around the card with paper, ribbon and then the sentiment, however it made the card too thick and the envelopes would have ripped in the mail. Unfortunately I had to remove the paper strap, but I kept the ribbon. My friends who are giving the shower wanted a Disney theme but not to have the really bright Disney colors. I found this designer paper at a local scrapbook store, and guess what its Disney paper! I used my creative memories Mickey punch to punch out the Mickey symbol on the dp on the left hand side. This criss cross cards base is 5 1/2 by 12, so I didn't need to attach two pieces of paper. The inside is white cardstock with the info, on top of grey cardstock. I then stamped images from Polka Dots & Petals with Real Red, attached some ribbon and this baby is done.

busy days

I have been very busy the last few days so nothing to show today. I made 30 criss cross baby shower invitations so that took up some time. They turned out really cute, I will post a picture later or tomorrow. My cold is still lingering it just will not go away, so I feel really fatigued lately. My SU kit came in the mail yesterday and I spent the day cutting rubber. I can't wait to ink them up. Other than that just trying to get some swaps done and mailed out.

My babies are growing up...

Under the weather & Stampin Up newest Demo

Well I have been sick for almost a week now and its not fun. I have not created in a few days, and I feel guilty because I have so much stuff that needs to be done. I feel like I'm starting to be on the mend so everything will have to wait until the weekend. In other news I signed up to be a Stampin Up Demonstrator, I really enjoy making cards and altering things so this is perfect for me right now. I can't wait to get my kit and see all of my new stamps sets and 18 stamp pads!! I signed before Sept 30th so I got an additional 12 stamp pads, how awesome is that. If any of my family from CA is reading this they probably have no idea what Stampin Up is, which is very funny to me because almost all of my friends are addicted to paper, stickers and stamps. So if you are a friend or family member and have no idea what Stampin Up is you can go to www.stampinup.com and look at their products. Then after you look at their products, you are now inspired to make all of your Chris

Altered Clipboards

Image
There are these two teachers at my son's school, that help children become better readers. All day everyday they listen to children read, and help them get through every word. So a few weeks ago the book fair came and I bought them a few books. I pick my son up from school on Friday and he hands me a card. I figure its a birthday invitation, but then I notice the envelope says to the Yoast Family. I'm really not thinking anything of it until I opened the card and there was a $50 gift card to Ruby Tuesdays, from the two teachers I got the books for!! I could not believe it, I still am shocked it was very generous of them. So this weekend I made them each a clipboard and a bag with some goodies in it. Papertrey ink has a stamp that fits perfectly with Avery address labels, so you stamp the label, then it fits perfectly over a Hershey's Nugget. Its such an easy way to dress up candy. I had made my son's teacher a clipboard, and Mrs. Seevers asked where she got it, and Mrs.

Relaxing Sunday

Image
So my son is finally feeling better but now I am getting something. He had strep-throat but I'm hoping I just have a cold, who knows. Anyhow, today all I am going to do is be crafty. I have some cards I need to finish up and start on, not to mention I had 10 rolls of film developed yesterday! They were from last year!!! Needless to say I have some major scrapbooking to do. I love my SLR camera and all the cool bells and whistles it has but I am really enjoying my digital camera. My next big purchase is going to be a Digital SLR :) Well I made this card last week but couldn't post it because she checks my blog, this was a birthday card for my wonderful friend Chris. We share the same sick obsession with never having enough paper, stamps, stickers, or ink, don't even get me started on ribbon and embellishments thats a totally different 10 step program. I used my score-pal to make this gate front card, they always turn out really cute. The stamp I bought at Micheals in the do
